1990 LX 5.0. Got in the car the other day, put the key in and turned. Nothing happened. Pulled the key out and was able to turn the tumbler by hand, turns all the way forward and backward without the key. Is something broken inside the tumbler? If so, what does it take to replace this? A little leery of digging into the steering column, don't want to mess anything up with the airbag. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

There is a small shaft that operates the ignition swith. Sounds like it is bent of broken. There is also a tab on the end of the ignition lock cylinder that operates that shaft. Could be broken. I first suggest you remove the lock cylinder and check that. First disconnect the negative battery cable of 20 minutes. That will give the airbag internal power supply time to drain and keep the airbag from firing. That is what all the manuals call for. It really sounds like you have a broken lock cylinder. Those are available at just about any parts store.
