My daughter went to see her mom in Florida this last week and Saturday she came home, so I had to drive to Charlotte and pick her up from the airport. I drove up there and picked her up and we drove back to the house, nice little 3 hr cruise. After she was home for a couple hours she asked if she and her friends drive to downtown Greenville just to go to Falls Park and hang out. At first I was like eh no...you just got home and downtown on a Sat night isnt the best. Well, being the nice guy I am I let her go there with her friends and told her to be back by 10pm. Around 8:30pm I'm out in the front yard watching my 3 and 2 yr old with their friends and I get the phone call I've been dreading since I have a child that is of driving age......."Dad, I've been in an accident". As a parent, when those words come out you think of the worst, so I drove like a bat outta heck to get where they were(which was less then 5 miles from the house) and when I got there luckily nobody was hurt and it wasn't my daughters fault. It seems that someone stopped to turn across Woodruff rd just past Hwy 14 and the G35 in front of my daughter stopped, she stopped and didn't hit anything, but the girl driving the Beetle behind Katie didn't see them stopped and slammed into the back of the Focus and pushed her into the G35. Luckily no damage was done to the G35 or the front of the Focus, the rear bumper is messed up on the Focus, needs 2 rear tail lights, bumper cover and might need a new decklid. The freakin' Beetle just creased her bumper, popped out the right front headlight and that was it! The most important thing is that nobody was hurt......now just have to deal with insurance companies......hey KB, do you guys to accident repair?? I'll post up pics Tues hopefully........vent over......

Sorry to hear that Wayne. But like you said, the most important part is your daughter didn't get hurt. The car can be fixed.

Here is some pics of the damage..... here you can see how far the trunk is pushed in right rear side left rear side and the reinforcement metal portion of the bumper....this is what I'm worried about so far the girl's insurance adjuster has yet to call me...........if I don't hear from them tommorrow I'm calling Nationwide again

Dang didn't take much to total that. What car's next? This is the story behind it. When the adjuster looked at the car Monday, He told me that since we couldn't open the trunk, he assumed it was going to need to have the trunk pan replaced along with the bumper, two tailights, trunklid. They also counted the front bumper in the estimate because there was a little damage to the front bumper where she was pushed into another vehicle. so when you add the whole estimate up for painting front and rear bumpers, replacing the rear trunk pan, trunk lid tail lights bumper, blending the quarter panels....I'm sure he penciled in a $4200 estimate. KBB retail on our car is max $5300.....thats why they want to total it. However, I have been inside the trunk and under the car, I think the trunk pan can be bent back into place at the rear and I think everything should line up back where it belongs. From what I can see the frame rails are straight, the passenger side frame rail at the end looks like it is bent a little down, but it is still straight. I've driven the vehicle and it drives just as it did before it was ran into so we are thinking of asking for the salvage rights and repairing it so Katie can drive it. As of right now Nationwide and I are about $450.00 apart from having it settled......hopefully we can wrap it up by Friday.

Now the real fun begins. We settled with Nationwide, they gave me what I wanted for the car and I'm getting to keep the car. Once the check clears I'm going to buy the main parts needed and begin planning getting the rear bumper off, straightening the pan behind it. Then after I get the Focus done, I'm finally going to be able to start getting the things for the GT that are needed......things are looking up!!

Great to hear Nationwide gave you what you wanted, and you got to keep the car. Sometimes bad situations can turn out to be good.
