A question, 2 or 3...
My lowering springs should be in by tomorrow...don't know how soon before they get inSTALLED, but at least they'll be in! Ok...the few questions/concerns are as follows;
A machine shop can enlarge/enlongate the holes to accomodate adjusting for a proper alignment. I had s/one tell me they did just that and it worked GREAT! I'm obviously wanting to avoid the expense of buying new c/c plates, and if I can "get-r-done" for $50-60, you can see how much the savings can be!
Anyone on the board have experience with doing so? If so, what specifically do I need to tell the shop? They're not "in to" doing c/c plates, so I'll need to be specific in telling them just what it is I'm wanting done...make sense?
If I DO elect to have them modify my current plates, I can save my chrome strut covers and nut caps...they doooooooo look good imo! If I end up forkin' out approx $180 or so bucks for new adjustable ones, then hey...I'll be offerin' up those chrome parts and most likely will list 'em here and talk 'em up at the next car show/cruise in.
Any imput would be appreciated, and if you're familiar (1st hand) with having had done what I'm considering, fill me in!

You can file a slot in the strut flange or use a bolt that is slightly smaller in diameter than the stock bolt to allow similar in/out strut adjustment. Obviously, the disadvantage of these methods is that they reduce the strength of the strut/spindle mounting point. Caster/camber plates do not weaken the strut mount.
But I would highly recommend in investing in a set of CC plates, and do the job the correct way.

Appreciate the come back...I elected to put new ones on. I should have 'em on in no time...ugh, just ordered 'em y'day, and depending on how s-l-o-w or FAST the delivery is Gonna get 'em put on the same time as my lowering springs. Someone from this generation is gonna have to come up with another sayin' to replace the, "These cars (or whatever product you're referin' to) will nickle and dime you to death"...............gonna have to be sumthin' like, "These cars will ________& _______ you to death".

Notch93...where in the WORLD are you buyin' your C/C plates?!? $300?!?! Ha...they musta seen those $100 bills hangin' out your pockets huh? Honestly...I don't know of ANYONE sellin' 'em for THAT much...I'll answer you, but please...you tell ME what YOU'RE buyin'? Interesting that you got yours this week too, but a/ways... I bought the chrome MM (Maximum Motorsports. As far as the cosmetics go, I was thinkin' on goin' with the thicker aluminum plates, whether BBK (to match my springs I just got), or MAC, but after the "deal" on the MM plates, AND after speaking with MM themselves, I am convinced they're probably the best out there. THAT was/is a bonus, as I wasn't looking for "top of the line", but really...I feel they're "it", with other brands equally the same. Things I didn't know prior to speaking with them: ***They deal exclusively with Fox Bodies ***They were the 1st C/C plates to allow for independent adj for caster & camber That being said, they should suffice...after all, I just want it lookin' good under da hood I've got the chrome nut covers and strut cap now which I'll offer up on Ebay or at the next Cruise-In so I can recapture some of THAT investment. I doubt the stock plates that will come off are worth a/thing to anyone, but they too (and my springs that will come off too).

No, I was referring to your comment on how these cars can become money pits. I had to put a new battery in, because my alternator was shot, and killed my battery. So I had to put a alternator in also. The MM Chrome CC plates are around $250.00, weren't they? IMO, you bought the best CC plates on the market. I wish I had $100 bills falling out of my pocket. ;D

They were/are around that yes...BUT, I bought 'em for a good bit less due to having dropped a good bit with them on wheels in July! If he hadn't offered the "brother-in-law" pricing, I woulda bought the BBK's or MAC's.

Throw those lowering springs in yourself! Not a very hard install. Hardest part is getting the front stock springs out but all ya need is someone with boots on to keep the spring from flying and pry it out. LOL. Putting the lowering springs in is a lot easier b/c they're shorter.
I think everything MM makes is good. Nice pickup!
