I know this will be another topic of debate... but I'd like to hear what others have to say about it ....
When we first got the 50.. the owner had been using 10/40 Royal Purple and a Racing FL1A filter, we changed oil once and put RP back in ... the second chnge we put Valvoline 10/40 synthetic blend and a standard FL1A... what feelings do y'all have?

Any oil is fine as long as you don't let it out live it's life. Whether petroliuem based or synthenic.

you hear the hype about the synthetics ... last months 50Mag? someone had written about their 85GT they had run synth in, they got 500k out of it ... at teardown they found no wear in the cyl walls and moving parts..basically the only part needing to be replaced was the crank... it broke and was the only reason for the teardown... I didn't know if anyone was jumping on the synthetic bandwagon .. me.. the jury's still out ..

I am a believer in the synthetic oils, I like Mobel 1 in the street car, and I'll be going to Royal Purple in the race car. Just needed to let the motor break in good on the race car.
