I had a problem with my 87-95 roller block so I had to go with a 69 mexican block, I know its stronger but I wanted roller. I know I can get vertical bar lifters but thats money. Has anyone ever drilled and tapped the block to hold the lifter hold down spider?? Will the dog bones clear the block or will I have a problem there?? Just thinking outside the box here...

Yes, it's been done before. We did it on a 351 a few years back. You need to do it before the cam bearings are installed, or be very careful not to drill into them. As for the lifters, you may have to do some slight grinding on the top of the lifter bores, for the locking bars.

Well, I will probably just use vertical bar lifters as it already has cam bearing pressed in.
