how do pick the right converter?i have a 306 it has gt40 x heads,z-cam a parker intake,750 holley, a c-4 wit stall and had 3.73 gears but i'm in process and adding my new 4.30 and 31 spline's and a spool and a 150 shot of nitrous!!!it has a cheap converter in it now was suppose to be a 3500 but when i try to stall it up i can only make it to about 1100 rpm on street tires and about1800 on slicks before it spins or pushes the car! i shift at 6800 so does anyone know which converter to go with or who to talk to that can help?thanks

You will never be able to foot brake a converter, and get the true flash. You need to roll in drive, at about 30mph, and hit it. This will load the converter enough, to show the true stall. Other option is a transbrake with no 2step. I would look for something in the 4,500 range, in a nitrous converter. This will be really tight on motor, like around 3,000 or so, but will loosen up nicely on the spray.

The only way to get 100% true stall out of the converter is with a transbrake.

well i got the edge conv. in the new bellhousing and 157 tooth flexplate and went to crank it and things have been going down hill ever since!first the starter made the most god awful noise,it made me cringe to hear it!well i pulled it off then replaced it and tried again and found it was going to far so i shimed it!then i noticed in a hurry to get it done i left a trans line loose and dumped a good bit of fluid no prblem fixed all that went to hit the starter and same noise!!checked it the starter seems to be hitting the flywheel perfect but it sounds like it's hitting on the edge and slipping and i can't figure it out!i've changed the starter hoping maybe that was it, but it did it with the new one also.anybody have any suggestions?
