Drill bit size to remove rivets

I am going to install new door handles and door lock actuators on my car. Anyone know what would be the best size drill bit to use to remove the factory rivets? I know you have to be careful not to use one too big and make the hole for the new rivets too big. So if anyone knows what size is best to use to help me out, I would appreciate it greatly. I don't want to use the trial and error method. Thanks.

punch the center nail out and drill with a 1/4 drill bit....It is the true size of the hold......If you dont trust you sturdy hand you can always drill smaller.
