I've been considering a computer upgrade, has anyone used any of the performance chips ? I'd like gain the performance without hurting the mileage or is it even worth the effort

I've always heard chips were a waste of money but I don't know for sure.

Chips are not worth it unless you have a power adder. I might stick it on the dyno to make sure your A/F ratio is good though. But if you want a chip, don't buy an off the self one. Get it dyno tuned.

I use one one my Coupe. It was originally installed and tuned on the dyno after doing a H/C/I and the usual bolt-ons. I picked up around 20hp on the dyno compared to the baseline with it, and it also cured a small throttle tip in driveability problem I was having. I'm now planning to have it re-flashed to match my new combo of all forged internals with a 544 cam, different H/C/I package and a switch to L/T's and a 150 shot. It will come in very handy now, but was still very much useful for me when I was N/A...

Just it's smart to have your car dyno tuned if you have a power adder. I wouldn't ever use a mail order chip.

Like you, I didn't pick up alot of power or torque. But the drive ability was worth it, and I picked up on my gas mileage.
