When you work as a Service advisor is a dealership, it is never easy. But we all look forward to Fridays so we can push out cars from this week and people come in to get their cars ready for the weekend. I was having a kick-butt morning today (sold lots of repairs and maintenance) and was looking forward to the weekend so I can plan my valentines day for me and my wife (esp since it's also our 4th wedding ann). I get back from lunch and it was hectic, had some issues to handle, no big deal. Right before I go to clock out and Ken, my service mgr waves me into his office. I set down and he proceeds to tell me that the dealership is making changes and I'm being let go for "poor sales performance".................WTF? Without even so much as a warning or write up---just plain canned! I thought he was joking at first because last month I was #2 in overall customer pay labor and #1 in average sales per repair for the whole dept and have been 3 or last 4 months!!! Then he proceeds to tell me that his boss told my old service manager months ago to fire me......... Well, before I left I printed off the last 5 months of customer pay labor sales for our dealership and CSI scores as well so I can show my next employer that their reason of "poor performance" is BS! So any of you guys in the Upstate area with a dealership needing a service writer with approx 6 yrs experience in service writing and 1o yrs dealership exp lemme know..................just as I was about to book my room for Mustangweek and other things, not good timing

I'm a Ford Certified Tech and I know how it is. I got out of the ASSET program(you know what I'm talking about) its like a 2 year course with school and work experience. I was so mad getting paid min. wage at the dealership sweeping floors, I was about to quit. I finally finished and was expecting a hourly raise like all my class mates, NOT. I got put on straight up flat rate commission, my first day on my own. Dang it sucks, no work, small dealer, low pay... I know the pain of dealership work. Doing the right thing for the customers and getting my a$$ reamed by the dealership owner... What dealership did you work at?? How many techs? advisors/writers?

I worked at Crown Nissan of Greenville, 3 advisors, about 10 techs. What I don't understand is that in Jan I sold over 20k in cp labor and my avg $ per repair was $89.00 which was the best of dept, so the "poor performance" is total BS! The more I think of it, I think they found someone who would work cheaper or they are transferring someone who worked the the Jeep dealership we had next door that they just sold.......oh well. I had 2 offers to go elsewhere in the 2 yrs I was at Crown, so I know I'll find a job soon. Good advisors are like good techs.....always be able to find work

Yeah I think good tech are like advisors, you have to sell the service. Where I work at now is in the middle of no where. 2 techs (I'm included), 1 guy does parts looking up, ordering, front counter back counter , service writing, advising and warranty, etc. The owner is the new and used car manager and the only salesmen. His sister is the accountant and does payroll and we have a old guy answering the phones. 6 people total, no lies... I would tell you to come on up but we don't have enough work to keep me and the other guy busy.

yeah Wayne , I know the feeling... the aircraft sales company I worked at about three years ago turn me loose... just me. ... I've worked in a/c parts for over twenty years now... while I was working for this sales company (in parts, ordering, researching, and doing some of the maintenance office work) we were doing a major inspection on one of the company's jets... short handed for a mech ... so they called in a contract worker to help out ... he was turned loose from the company I now work for.. his first week he could NOT Wait to talk to the pres/owner.... the owner took the following Monday off ... I and my supervisor were called to the office for "something".. the CFO comes out and says... we're restructuring the maintenance dept... there's not a place for you .... ok when does this take effect ...... today when you leave at five o'clock.... . that company is bell aviation.... there are several good people that work there that still can't figure why I was let go.... not even my supervisor... .. but better things come around... ... hang in there

Sorry to hear about the bad luck. I'm self-employed and have lost contracts for no reason. I have lost several here recently, but I have more coming around that are better. So hang in there, something will come up, possibly when you least expect it.

Well, as of yesterday afternoon I was offered a position at AAA car care center, just waiting on the background check to come back. So with any luck I'll be working by next week. Thanks for everyone's replies!
