Shifter line ups:
In my 87 mustang i have 1, drive, overdrive, neutral reverse, park.
In my 4banger i have 1st, 2nd, drive, overdrive, neutral, reverse, park.
Whats the difference between these transmissions b/c if my 87 had 2nd gear shift it would be alot faster. What's the best tranny? but the tranny in my 87 has a shift kit and has been built by jasper.

the one out of the other car (4cyl i'm assuming since A4LDs have that pattern, and AODs (V8)have the same as your car.
there isn't any sort of way to get a 2nd gear selection out of your car, but if you push it up to drive and then pull it back into first it will hold 2nd gear.

You can do the 1D1 shuffle stated above to hold 2nd gerar. Or www.lentechautomatics.com sells a valve body that will let the AOD lock out the OD via electronics, so you can use 1 for 1st, D for 2nd and OD for third. Then when you want to use OD, you flip a switch.
