I'm getting the 347 together and gathering all the parts. My question is injector size. I've heard that 24lbers are for modified 302/306, not much more. I'm thinking on 30 lbers. So what cars came stock with 30 lb injectors?? I have 2 sets out of a Turbo Coupe but they are brown tops, which through research is 35 lbers. I also seen a Ranger at work with red tops in it. It was a 1997-99 with a 2.5 liter. Are all red top injectors 30 pounders or if it just a fluke that a stock ranger had red top injectors?? Thanks

Injectors are sized for the horsepower not really engine size, although you do see certain engine sizes that repeatedly have the same injectors.
This is the calculation for injector size.
Injector size = ((engine hp)*(BSFC))/((Number of injectors)*(Injector duty cycle))
BSFC is .4 - .5 for NA motors .5 - .6 for Nitrous motors .6 - .7 for Forced Induction
Duty Cycle is general set to .8 (80%) you never want to run injectors more than 80% they can lock open (I've seen it happen).

Yeah, I got that down, but are all red top injectors 30 pounders? ? I seen a stock 03 GT with red tops and a stock 96 ranger with a 2.5L with red tops, SO are All red top injectors 30 pounders???

The ford motorsports 30# injectors are red top but the rangers came with 14#. The early models were grey and the late models where red. Who knows why they changed color.
99-04 GT's use 19# stock. 05 up use 24# stock.
The turbo coupe and svo mustangs use low impedance injectors so don't plug those up or you will fry your EEC without an adapter.
So I guess the answer to your question is no not all red top injectors are 30#'s.

Just base it off what kinda power you expect to make. I don't think you can really go to overboard, within reason. I only know blower systems but, 500 RWHP, 42lb injectors are working fairly hard but ok. I would think 36#er's would be a safe option and allow for more stuff down the road with a N/A or smaller nitrous combo.
